A Birthday Letter For Our Baby Girl

Dear sweet Annabelle,
Tomorrow morning, April 28th, at 10:21 a.m. you will be one year old. This time last year, your daddy and I were going out to dinner and then packing our final things for the hospital. We were beyond excited and anxious. The entire morning before your arrival is a bit of a blur, but I will never forget the first moment that I saw your precious face. We loved you from the moment that we found out we were having a baby, but the flood of love that filled me when I heard your first cry can't be put into words. Your dad went with you for your bath while I was in recovery, and a little while later we spent our first hours as a family of three.

We celebrated your birth this past weekend with our family, and your daddy put together a bunch of photos from this past year to play on the tv. It was breathtaking to watch you grow. I can't believe that this first year has passed so quickly. I know that is what all mamas say, but it is true...time is going too fast. You are such a beautiful baby girl - inside and out. Your smile light up a room, and your laughter is just adorable. I love you so much it hurts - I even miss you after you are in bed each night.
This past year has been filled with more love and joy that I could ever imagine. You have changed us from a couple to a family. You are teaching us how to be parents - our sweet first born. Our perspective on life has been completely changed... your well-being is the focus of every decision that we make.

Here is what you have been up to this month...
- You are wearing 18 month clothes and a size 4 shoe.

- We go to the doctor for your 12 month appt. on Friday so we will find out how much you have grown.

- You are still a really good eater, and you have started drinking whole milk this week. Your favorites are right now are yogurt, turkey, and strawberries. You love your bottle, and you sign for milk when we start to make you one.

- You love to climb, hang, and roll around. We gave you a soft little chair for your birthday, thinking you would love to sit and look at your books. So far it has been your perfect jungle gym - you barrel yourself onto, off of, and over it.

- You have been doing a lot of walking the past couple of weeks, but you still love to crawl. Your favorite thing is for us to say "I'm gonna get you" and crawl after you. You giggle and crawl as fast as you can.

- You are becoming very opinionated about what you do and do not want to do. Diaper changes are becoming more and more challenging! You are having more and more moments where your daddy and I look at each other wondering how we handle this situation.

- You say "hi" now, and love to say it to the dogs every time you see them. You talk a lot in your own little language, you seem like you have a lot to say.

- You are so loving. You pat our backs when we hug you, and you burrow your little head in our necks all of the time. You also love to snuggle up with anything soft.
We simply cannot imagine a life without our baby Annabelle - you are our pride and joy.
We love you so much! Happy 1st Birthday!
