Our daughter is completely in love with all animals. Dogs, birds, cats, lions, gorillas, giraffes....she adores anything having to do with animals. The only books that she willingly sit and listen to right now are animal books. We have been feeding that obsession and enjoying the precious results.We have gone to the Birmingham Zoo twice this month. It is super affordable and really nice for a smaller zoo. The three of us went a few weeks ago, and then my mom and I took Annabelle this week while Jesse was out of town for work. To say that Annabelle loves it is a complete understatement. Mom and I told her where we were going when we got in the car, and she said "yay, yay, lil-las, yay" (lil-las = gorillas) for about 20 minutes. She just waited so patiently for the entire 1 1/2 hour drive (this is not her normal car ride behavior).

She loved the giraffes, which she calls "raffs" right now.
One of our favorite exhibits was the Lorikeets. You can buy little cups of nectar, and the birds just swarm you. They are extremely gentle, and absolutely gorgeous. At one point, I had at least 12 birds on me. 
Annabelle can't wait to check out the Nashville or Atlanta Zoo sometime soon with Papa and Lola!
